Thomas Gray's work on the Burnham Pavilion film was essential to the success of the Burnham Plan Centennial. This civic event engaged 300 partner organizations in celebrating Chicago's rich history of regional planning and looking to bold plans for the future. The future-oriented pavilions took inspiration from the historic Burnham Plan and expressed visions of design and urbanism to inspire a public dialogue about Chicago‘s Future.
Before we connected with Thomas, we talked with a number of filmmakers. When we met him we realized his ability to design an installation specific to the space and his knowledge of projecting on fabric was unique, and both abilities turned out to be essential to the success of the pavilion. He had the vision to create something memorable, artistic and accessible that fit our intent of inspiring a broad public dialogue, and the discipline to execute that vision in a relatively short time.
